Old Comrades Group were formed in 2014 and are a mix of people who served in the ‘legal’ forces during the Northern Ireland conflict and other local men, who were affected by the conflict. The group also have members who have served in Mainland UK Regiments and have settled in the area. They meet weekly all year around, to support the health and well-being of veterans and have a track record of inviting guest speakers and going on study visits. They feel they think outside the box and strive to learn more about conflict from both outside (and within) their community. They offer support and friendship and look at North Belfast, Northern Ireland and wider United Kingdom history. They also reach out to others (from different backgrounds) living within their community (Shore road) and other communities. As Veterans, they joined ‘legal’ groups in order to protect ‘all communities.’
